We call it ‘whole body’, because it activates all of the major muscle groups – 98% of the muscle fibers in a training session – versus 60% in conventional training methods.

EMS has been around since the 1960s and is used by elite athletes, it’s only been in recent years that it has become more widely available.

EMS Strength

An EMS Strength session delivers the equivalent to 4 high intensity workouts in one comfortable 20 minute session. It’s easy on your joints, so it’s suitable for everyone, every age and fitness level. Aswell as being proven to significantly increase muscle mass and reduce body fat, it’s also proven to significantly slow age related muscle loss, relieve non-specific back pain and is safe and effective for injury rehabilitation. Over 12 weeks you can expect to see a staggering 9% body fat loss, a 30% increase in strength and increased skin tone.

We recommend incorporating one or two light cardio’s into your week, such as tennis, cycling, pickle ball or brisk walking.

Muscular Endurance

The Muscular Endurance EMS programme works on a much lower frequency than both the Strength and the Relax. This treatment switches on the slow twitch muscle fibres that are activated during any cardio exercise, but here they are worked a massive 3 x higher than if you were doing cardio alone. A 20 min session on the studio rowing machine is the equivalent to a 60 minute high intensity row plus you’ll get a healthy boost in the circulation of blood and oxygen.

Relax

The Relax EMS Programme Works at a higher frequency to the Strength, however because you will be lying still, it actually delivers deep level muscle relaxation which will help your recovery and make you feel great post any work out. You can add this to any other fitness treatment type or Personal Training Session.

Your first session includes a complete 2D/3D body composition scan so that you can start to accurately measure your progress from your first day. As you continue on your fitness programme your subsequent scans are also available free of charge to enable us to track your progress.

What to expect

At your try out session, you will be provided with an EMS under garment which you will keep and wear during all of your EMS sessions. This garment is necessary for the EMS to work and must be worn without additional underwear. There is private space to change in the studio and if you prefer, at subsequent sessions you can arrive in your EMS under garment.

Your trainer will help you into the outer EMS garment – an electrode vest and 5 straps – and they will attach the electrodes targeting your chest, abs, arms, legs and glutes.

During the EMS workout, you will work alongside a fully EMS qualified personal trainer, who will combine the use of general training principles and the functioning of the EMS device, to incorporate a transfer of sport and exercise-specific movements.

The EMS device increases the speed of muscular contractions which is difficult to trigger voluntarily, by sending electrical impulses from the device to your muscles via the electrodes. These impulses mimic the natural messages sent from your brain to your muscles, and cause them to contract simultaneously.
The data from each session is stored on your own card so that your progress can be carefully tracked
